Reiki and the Chakras

Chakra in Sanskrit means wheel, and those who can see them see spinning circles of colour. They can also see if the Chakras are discoloured, blocked, or affected by emotional, physical, or spiritual problems. Chakras accumulate this negative energy, and the negativity can be passed from one Chakra to the next..for example, an emotional problem stored in the heart Chakra can be passed to the throat Chakra and manifest as a communication problem. The other Chakras tend to try to compensate, but the result is an unbalanced system.

No-one really knows knows many Chakras there are...the nearest guide is the number of acupuncture points, which are around 360. The main philosophy, however, centres on 7 key points, shown opposite.

Each Chakra vibrates at a different frequency, and is seen as a different colour. Starting from the Base Chakra, the colours are Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Purple.

The Chakra positions correspond to the Endocrine glands which control the human hormone balance. Hormones have a significant effect on the mood and emotion of the individual, especially if the system is out of balance.

The Reiki hand positions are over the main Chakra points, enhancing and balancing the energy there.

CAUTION: The colours above are one interpretation..it seems that in fact the Chakras can be of any colour, depending on their state, and on the individuals health and soul path. A monk or nun, for example, is likely to have more purple throughout their Chakra system. It is not therefore a good idea to try to balance, or enhance the Chakra colours through Reiki or meditation, but let Reiki undertake it naturally through the normal hand positions.
